Lilburn Christmas Tour of Homes
Home #4 The Flowers Residence
Home #4 The Flowers Residence
The house was the first home that Lane's parents bought when they married in 1961. The house became affectionately known throughout the family as "The Old House ". Lane renovated the house in 2000. It was most important to him to keep everything as original as possible. All doors and their hardware, the heart pine floors, the chimney and hearths are all restored and original to the house. As a child Lane would look into the rafters of the attic space and dream of a finished room, so during renovation, he added a staircase and attic room with dormer windows on front and back. The house is furnished with many family pieces, each with it's own story and history that have special meaning to Lane. In the bedroom, the old iron bed with matching doll's bed belonged to his maternal grandparents and mother. The armoire was built by his paternal grandfather. The house and much of it's treasured pieces were handed down to Lane, and he is honored to be keeper of that history and feel very grounded in the house.

Home #1 The Vaden Residence
Carr and MaryEllen Vaden bought their home on their 20th wedding anniversary. After 24 years, they have made their home comfortable and inviting. She is an interior designer and he is a CPA and woodworker so SHE keeps HIM very busy on their tongue/groove backsplash, desk, cabinets, flooring, decking, etc. Only 12 pieces of furniture have been bought NEW. The rest are trades, barter, garage sale, garbage or family pieces. SHE like to find junk (Carr calls it that) and make it into treasures: Mannequins into lamps, tablecloths into curtains, and old paintings into fun works of art. Several watercolors were painted by MaryEllen. The grand girls love the dollhouse she bartered for as much as her daughter Maggie and her friends did. Come on in and take your time and they hope you will enjoy their home as much as their family does. All the neighbor kids make their parents drive past the home at Christmas to see all the cutouts HE made and the painting on them that SHE did. When Thomas, their son, was young he would have 2000 lights on the lawn and people would say they knew they were flying over their neighborhood because they could see the LIGHTS. Evergreen Lakes only had white lights out until the VADENS moved in. Color is the name of the game.
Home #2 The Lopez Residence
The Lopez house - also known as "Chateau Tranquilino." Like the Phoenix rising from actual ashes after a fire burned it to the ground in November, 2009; this beautifully rebuilt 7800 square foot home is now decorated for the holidays and shines as one of the stars of the Tour.
Also ready for Santa's visit is the guest house next door and make sure to visit the summerhouse all ready for Christmas dinner.
Home #3 The Mapstone Residence
Nicole and Michael Mapstone and son, Jack, moved into their home in 2013. Nicole loves Christmas and starts decorating for the holiday right after Halloween. There are 9 theme decorated trees throughout the home to include a 12 foot tree in the living room decorated with nothing but Santas. Other theme trees include a red, white and blue tree in honor of our Veterans and a White House tree - Nicole has a wonderful collection of White House ornaments. You won't want to miss her other Christmas collections! She has over 200 Nutcrackers and 100+ Santas decorating the home. The home also has over 10,000 Christmas lights decorating the home!
Home #5 Hope Springs Distillery
Hope Springs Distillery is the only craft distillery in Gwinnett, producing premium, small batch spirits made for the discerning drinker. The distillery was established in the heart of Lilburn, Ga. in 2014 by co-founders Paul Allen and Betsey Dahlberg; master distiller Jaz Jarzewiak joined them in 2016, and production began in 2017.
The team currently produces Top Hat Vodka and Jetty Absinthe, with a top notch Gin soon to join the lineup. The vibrations from the nearby railroad train traffic will work their magic to gently age other new barreled products to perfection.
The distillery’s tasting room is normally open for tours and samplings on Friday and Saturday afternoons and products can be found in local liquor stores and retailers throughout Georgia. This is a great opportunity to see the distillery, and perhaps try some of our products. Buy local!
Antiques in Old Town will be open for your shopping pleasure. Tickets may be purchased here during the tour. Take your picture with Santa and enjoy cookies and coffee. Hugh and Rowan Wilkerson have their business decorated for the holidays and invite you to browse the many lovely venues throughout the store.
